“Through years of experience, I’ve observed how anxiety keeps so many people from caring for their teeth. By a seemingly chance encounter, I discovered a tool that changed even my own perspective on the matter.

One day, while attending the International Meeting of Ozone Therapists, in the midst of a crowded conference, Dr. Shallenberger generously shared his unique knowledge about one therapeutic approach I hadn't encountered in person before — IASIS Microcurrent Neurofeedback. His way of sharing was exceptional: I had a brief session and experienced it firsthand. Right there, in the middle of the loud, packed hall,

I suddenly and unexpectedly felt calm and at ease. That night, sleeping on an averagely uncomfortable hotel bed, I’m certain — I slept better than ever in my life,” recalls Dr. Rossinski, remembering the day she was first introduced to IASIS Microcurrent Neurofeedback.

Overview

IASIS Microcurrent Neurofeedback (MCN) is a non-invasive, FDA-registered technology that delivers brief, low-intensity electrical impulses to the scalp. These microcurrents interact with the brain’s natural electrical activity, supporting the reorganization of maladaptive neural patterns associated with stress, anxiety, and hyperarousal.

Mechanism of Action

The brain and central nervous system operate through electrical signaling. Chronic stress, fear, or trauma can create repetitive, dysregulated firing patterns within neural networks — particularly those involving the limbic system and autonomic regulation.

IASIS MCN applies minute microcurrent stimulation (typically less than 1/100th of that used in standard EEG), prompting the brain to ‘reset’ toward more efficient patterns of self-regulation. Clinical studies and case reports suggest improvements in autonomic stability, reduced anxiety, and enhanced cognitive clarity following a series of treatments.

Application in Dentistry

Dental anxiety and phobia often stem from heightened activation of the sympathetic (‘fight-or-flight’) nervous system. By modulating this over-activation, IASIS MCN may help reduce anticipatory anxiety, improve tolerance to dental procedures, and enhance post-treatment recovery.

Patients typically undergo 5–10 sessions, each lasting about 10 minutes. During the session, small electrodes are placed on the scalp and neck. The process is passive, requires no patient effort, and produces no noticeable sensation.

Observed Outcomes and Patient Reflections

In both clinical and practice settings, patients report:

  • Reduced physiological signs of anxiety (e.g., heart rate, muscle tension)

  • Improved ability to relax during dental visits

  • Enhanced emotional stability

  • Greater focus and cognitive calm

  • Improved focus and clarity

  • More restful, natural sleep

  • Steadier mood and emotional balance

  • A renewed sense of energy

  • Memory enhancement

These effects appear cumulative, with many patients noticing initial improvement

after two to six sessions.

Here is what our patients say about the effects of IASIS treatment:

Lana D:

I’ve had nine IASIS MCN sessions with Dr. Rossinski so far. At first, I was skeptical and not very familiar with the technique — curious to try, but without any particular expectations. Yet I felt the results immediately, even after the first session. My constantly anxious, never-stopping mind felt pleasantly still as I walked out of the office.  After nine sessions, I began remembering my dreams and noticing sleep patterns I’d never been aware of before (I tend to get looped in my thoughts while sleeping). The overall level of my anxiety — not only related to dentistry — has become much lower. My mind remains sharp, but it no longer feels overwhelmed. It’s hard to explain it better than this: I simply feel like a healthier, happier person overall.

Safety and Efficacy

IASIS MCN is considered safe when performed by certified providers. It is drug-free, non-invasive, and can be integrated with standard medical or dental care. Although formal large-scale randomized trials are ongoing, preliminary data and pilot studies indicate potential benefit in reducing symptoms of anxiety, PTSD, and post-concussive disorders.

Guided by Certified Expertise

At our practice, IASIS Microcurrent Neurofeedback is offered by two certified practitioners — Dr. Irina Rossinski and Dr. Karina Zaygermakher — both formally trained and certified in IASIS MCN.

Only a handful of providers in New York City are certified in this advanced method, making it a truly specialized offering for those seeking holistic, whole-body harmony through subtle, science-based care.

Expert Insight and Global Recognition
